Rain, Rain Pour Down on My Head

I realized today that for 6 years I have had three umbrellas taking up space in my mud room. Not only are they taking up space but they are in the way whenever the kids are taking their coats off the hooks. Because they are tall umbrellas this is really the only place I can put them. But, in those 6 years we have used them once. Once, other than the kids taking them into the back yard, playing with them and invariable leaving them in a dirty muddy puddle.

So finally 6 years later I have discovered that despite living in a very rainy part of the country, we do not need umbrellas and they are now going to be moved to the shop where they can be retrieved on the odd occasion when we do need one. Like for my parents who don't believe in going out in the rain, let alone without an umbrella. They are from a part of the country where it doesn't rain very much. Deep sigh of satisfaction, another piece of clutter gone.
