Do Not Pull
It was an innocent visit to the library. Just like the many before it. I was checking out the masses of books Cameron and I had chosen and chatting with the nice lady behind the desk when the fire alarm starts going. I immediately look to Cameron. There he is with his hands over his ears yelling "What did I do?"
Oh that little red lever is so tempting especially when it is at kids height. (Why it was at kids height I do not know!) Anyway, he managed to single handedly evacuate the entire building which includes University Classrooms, City Hall offices and the library. Thank god the student spa services weren't in session and I didn't have to see all those half clad ladies with paper sheets wrapped around them aroused from their relaxing massages and manicures and waxes.
The building manager then came up to us and requested that we come and talk to the fire chief so we began the long walk of shame around the entire building. I felt like shielding my eyes from the crowd. The fire chief had a serious talk with Cameron telling him to ONLY pull the fire alarm lever if there was a real fire. Cameron apologized to him and his Fire Deputy.
So we were then waiting outside for everyone to be let back in and the firemen in the truck start waving to us and waving us over to the fire truck. Cameron was ready for another lecture I think but no, they chat with him and give him a tour of their brand new firetruck and then another fireman gives him a sticker. Hell, if I got that much attention from 4 firemen I'd be pulling the fire alarm bell myself!
Needless to say we went and got our books said a dozen apologies and got out of that building as fast as possible. Lesson learned!
